Castle Head, Katoomba is a wonderful walk, another one for your BUCKET LIST. It is a MUST DO WALK.
“Castle Head’ is a point of cliff-bound land on the eastern side of Narrow Neck Plateau, overlooking the Ruined Castle, Katoomba. A descriptive name as this point looks directly down onto the Ruined Castle. Castle Cliff Trig Station at a height of 986m is located on this point.” Source Blue Mountains Geographical Encyclopedia

• Time: 2.5 hours return PLUS browsing time
• Best time of the day: Any time
• Kid-safe: Yes with supervision, but not little ones
• Dogs on-leash: No
• Steps: There are plenty, but nothing shocking
• Accessible: No
• Heights: The last part of the scramble is a big hairy,
• Must do rating out of 10: 9
From the carpark, head down past the locked gate for about 1km to the Castle Head sign, on the left.
Follow the well-identified track out to Castle Head. There are a few wonderful elevated spots along the way that give amazing views. Take care of kids there, the first step is a big one.
When you get to the Cairn at the highest point, continue one for about 50m to a wonderful spot for morning tea/lunch.
Pack a snack and enjoy it along the way or on Castle Head.
